Growing up, brussel sprouts was definitely one of my least favorite vegetables. Something about the bitter taste I really didn’t enjoy. But after I tried this dish at an event, brussel sprouts quickly rose to one of my top ten vegetables! So if you were like me, or ARE like me, trust me.. this dish is SO good. This dish can be a great pairing item for lunch or dinner or make you famous at a potluck event. Enjoy!

INGREDIENTS
- 1 pound of brussel sprouts: washed & sliced in half
- 5 slices of bacon
- 1/4 cup of water
- 4 tbsp of maple syrup
- 1/2 tsp of salt
- 1/4 tsp of pepper
- 1/4 cup of peanuts chopped (optional)
DIRECTIONS
- Wash & slice brussel sprouts in half lengthwise. Set aside.
- Heat up a medium sized nonstick pan on medium-high heat. Once heated, layer your strips of bacon on the pan. Pour in 1/4 cup of water to the pan, and cover with a lid. Wait 4-5 minutes until the water has evaporated. Once the bacon is browned and crisped, using tongs- remove from the pan and set aside.
- Using the same pan, (do not remove the bacon oil), heat again to medium-high heat. Once heated, add in your brussel sprouts.
- Cook the brussel sprouts without stirring until the undersides are golden brown (5-7 minutes).
- While the brussel sprouts are cooking, slice your cooked bacon to 1cm pieces.
- Once browned, stir to turn sprouts over, and cook the other sides until golden brown (5-7 minutes).
- Then combine your bacon, maple syrup, and S&P to your pan, stirring them together.
- Remove from pan, top off with the peanuts (optional) and serve! Enjoy!
