Sesame Crusted Tuna Bowls

Looking for a super easy and nutritious dinner in less than 30 minutes? This is the perfect recipe for you! This recipe is delicious and light and incorporates the most delicious tastes of sesame crusted tuna! I pair it with some mixed greens, carrots, homemade kimchi, micro greens, and top it with a soft poached egg for extra added richness!

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 Tuna Steaks (frozen/ fresh)
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp mirin
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 cup sesame seeds
Toppings:
  • 1 carrot julienned
  • 1 cup mixed greens
  • 1/8 cup kimchi
  • 1/2 cucumber peeled into strips
  • slice of lime

Poached Egg

  • 2 eggs
  • 3 cups of water
  • 1/8 cup vinegar

DIRECTIONS

  1. Defrost your tuna steaks in cold water 1 hour prior to cooking (if frozen).
  2. Marinate tuna steaks with 1/2 of the marinade: sesame oil, brown sugar, soy sauce, and mirin for 15 minutes. Coat your tuna steaks with sesame seeds.
  3. Heat up 1 tbsp of olive oil in a non-stick pan. Once the pan is hot, sear each side of the tuna steak for ~30-45 seconds for medium rare. Repeat for the rest of the sides.
  4. Heat up 3 cups of water with 1/8 cup of vinegar. Once a rolling boil, carefully crack eggs into the pot. Cook for 3 minutes and remove with a slotted spoon onto a napkin.
  5. Slice tuna and pair with mixed greens, kimchi, cucumber, the poached egg. Drizzle with remaining marinade! Enjoy!
